'The Projection Room'
About us

PRO-CON is
TODAY

'The Projection Room' is a group of fan-film enthusiasts who, being so inspired by the BBC's long-running TV serial 'Doctor Who', feel compelled to script, cast, shoot, edit and produce their own adventures.

The first story, 'The Crystal of Achillon', was made as a project between to friends (Robin Castle and Chris Hoyle) as they each completed their respective courses at the University of Nottingham, back in 1994.

Many stories have followed, namely 'The Invisible Opiate', 'The Deadly Alliance', 'A Stitch in Time', 'Masterplan', 'Gene Genius', 'The Schrodinger Effect' and 'Phantoms from the Future', and each successive serial has sought to build upon the achievements and expertise of the rest, to the point where we are proud to list BBC 'Doctor Who' actors Sylvester McCoy, Colin Baker, Sophie Aldred and Mary Tamm on our cast-list, in our three most recent productions ('Gene Genius', 'The Schrodinger Effect' and 'Phantoms from the Future').

We also take great pride in the quality of our scripts, acting, costumes and props (most of which are hand-produced by members of the cast and crew, funded from our own pockets).

Our productions are scripted, filmed, edited and produced for recreation only. We are not a profit-making enterprise and only ever look to recoup the cost of manufacturing the DVDs that we sell, namely the outlay for discs, sleeves, cases and labels.

We are not licenced by the BBC or the 'Doctor Who' brand and appreciate that we allowed to indulge in our hobby, making films based on our favourite TV show, by the generosity of the BBC, who know about us and what we do, but are aware that we do it through our love for their programme which continues to inspire us in our creativity.
